Is it accurate to call this a road trip?

Inavet does not fidget. There is no fidgeting. She is not a creature that is capable of fidgeting, she trained the habit away five centuries ago when she realized it really ticked her off. She will sit, serenely, maybe read books while waiting, but she doesn't fidget anymore.

But right now, she sort of wishes she did.

How does one mentally prepare to go to another universe?

She has no idea. She hasn't done it before. She realizes, vaguely, that this is kind of a stupid thing to worry about. She knows exactly who she's visiting, has wanted to for a while, and it's a smart tactical decision and helpful and safe and oh goddesses what if everything is weird, what if this becomes the most awkward day of all time, what if she spontaneously combusts upon entering the gate and going to Nexus? That can probably happen. Somehow. She's not really sure how, but if she's learned anything from this past week it is that the multiverse is a strange and terrifying place. And that it is good to be paranoid.

She wastes time on paranoia. She sits. She does not fidget. And she waits for a gate.

"Bloody menace, that one. Ugh. It's probably not worth responding."

"No, it really isn't," she sighs. "I mean he doesn't even make sense most of the time."

"I genuinely can't tell whether he has access to information he shouldn't, or he's just fantasizing about Leaf the mad murderous prince. I'm not a prince, by the way."

"Or murderous," she agrees. "I don't know. Honestly this is starting to seem kinda like harassment, if it gets bad I bet you can talk to Mother Starlight about it."

"He seemed genuinely reasonable when he finally wound down from pestering me about becoming a railgun-wielding space angel, too!"

"Well, by comparison."

"Right. Bonus of not having an account; he doesn't know I exist. It is a nice bonus."

"I envy you so much."

"Well you could always go my route and hack Nifl's account," she says lightly. "Disappear off of the face of the forum, become a sneaky hacker that only talks to one person."

"I cannot possibly hack Nifl's account, and if I could she would certainly notice, and then she might flirt with me, and that would be terrible."

"Ah, well. Then I suppose you have to put up with gabriael. The price you pay for avoiding flirting."

"Hard choices."

"I will be there for you, to make ridiculous noises when gabriael sends you bizarre messages about drinking neutrinos. I still have no idea what they are."

"...Oh, yes, I suppose you don't. They're, um - a kind of extremely small particle that mostly passes through things without affecting them in any noticeable way."

"And. Drinking them does what, exactly?"

[thisvorlunatic]

"It doesn't, because you can't. But according to him if I became his space angel minion I would be able to use them as a source of energy somehow."

"'Must drink neutrinos to live' energy source, or 'pick me up when the coffee has failed you'?"

"I think more of a coffee-has-failed-you thing? But damned if I know, honestly."
